If it weren’t for the institution of wage labor and money, “sex work” wouldn’t exist. It would simply be people having casual sex when they feel like it and want to, not turning their bodies into commodities. That being said, the reverence of sex work kind of aggravates me. The fact that someone could be so depleted in resources that they need to sell their bodies to some bourgeois piece of shit who hordes wealth is revolting (not saying the people doing sex work are revolting, the people who choose to exploit that are) and is a reflection of the cruel realities of our society.

*note* I’m not saying that people who are sex workers should be ashamed or anything, on the contrary, nobody should be ashamed for selling their labor, it simply shouldn’t be necessary to become a sex worker, but the fact that it is in some cases is extremely upsetting.
